There are two versions related to the systems; the simplified version and the advanced version. What I need is your vote on what version you would like to role-play in. I will briefly describe each version down below. If you could vote and then reply with your opinion, that would be great.

The Simplified Version
This system isn’t really changed from the system we have now with the powers. Instead of levels via posts, we’ll introduce experience points and levels. As you level up, you will acquire more abilities etc. You gain experience points by completing quests, going on expeditions etc.

It will take place everywhere in the forum.

The Advanced Version
This is more like a role-playing game and will include statistics such as:

Health/Power
Magic/Acumen
Attack/Defence

The above only names a few. You can gather that these result in a battle system where each player will meet a fair match. Statistics will increase and decrease through combats, quests etc.

Experience Points and Skill Points will also be incorporated. Once a role-player has enough points, they will level up along with their statistics.

There will also be a gold/money system where each member will have a set amount to start themselves off. You can then buy weapons, abilities, things to be used in battle. Characters can also sell their items to generate more income or trade with other willing members. A betting system will also be included where people can bet the outcome of a battle.

This will only take place in one category of the forum.

The simplified version is easier to work with as the advanced requires more time and effort on both parts. The advanced can become confusing and tiring but is fun in the long run, depending on which way you look at it. However, it may take some time to fully start it.

When you vote and reply, please bear in mind that the advanced has more holes in it and may cause some controversies, which in turn may result in the loss of members.

If you can think about it before replying and give me a reason why you chose that particular system, we will try and make Mythiule as fun as possible.

Thanks

Professor M. Ruane

I'd go for the Simplified Version, since it allows more freedom and it is the Mythiule I've grown to know ;) . Moreover, the advanced version may be too heavy, too much to have in mind when you write.

Just my two cents. :)

Simple system as I COME TO WARN YOU ALL!!

Seriously though, been there and done that and learned the hard way. After having run an 'advanced' system for almost a year I found it did little but cost me members and suck the fun, freedom and creativity out of the game.

Prof, PBP RPG is the smallest genre within the RPG world and can be very hard to succeed at. Stick with what works, believe me.

I was actually going to PM you to discuss how things are going and share some insights on the genre after having both been at it some time - but saw your post here.

If you opt for the latter, I wish you all the best of luck and will be watching with fervent interest. Feel free to ask me any questions or just chat in general, you know where to find me ;).

Thanks for your opinion Jin. ;)

Hmm...

I see what you mean Renquist, although we each have our own styles and ways of dealing with RPG's. Plus different members and whatnot.

Everything's fine and dandy at the moment. I've read your insights through the err... kinda last thread you did on your site.

But yeah, thanks a lot Renquist :P

Heheh. We won't mention the 'last post'. I'm still 'adjusting' to my wonderful new medication.

As always though Doc, best of luck and wishes with your continued success.

Well based on the differences between the two I will go ahead and vote the simple system since its what everyone is used too. Though I like the other one as well it seems a little confusing and it my be complicated for new members, heck even current members lol.

Plus i've already grown used to the current one we have

I would prefer the simplified version. This is my first time role-playing where my character has powers. So, I think the simplified version would be easier for someone like me.

Thanks a lot for your opinions you two :D

I think I'm going to close this thread and make a start on the systems...

Keep yourself updated. There will be news about the systems coming soon.
