A role-play guide is displayed below for all the people who are new to role-playing.

1. Full sentences
Full sentences are a must. People do not understand short phrases, we get confused if information is missing. If you don’t write in proper sentences then you are too lazy. It won’t hurt to write a few more words to describe what is happening. You can describe their surroundings, their 5 senses, what they are feeling inside, their moods, emotions, pains, feelings, physical movements ect. This will help set the setting and let other people role-play with a bit more knowledge.

2. Common Sense
Always be sensible concerning what your character can /can’t do at all times. Make sure it makes sense and is not out of the ordinary, a thing that happens regularly.

3. Abbreviating Words/Spelling
Abbreviating words is strictly forbidden. If you can't spell, use the spell checker provided. Spending time to write the full words will not kill you, and it will help greatly with the role-playing experience. We are intermediate, not beginner. Always double-check your post before posting. Check all the words are spelt correctly. If you are having doubts, click on the spell checker.

4. Knowledge
Knowledge of what you do know, and what you don’t know. What your character knows and what you, yourself know are two completely different things. What you know, doesn’t necessarily mean your character knows it as well. Your character does not know how to read minds, so make sure you be extra careful.

5. Persons
Everyone role-plays in 3rd person. Not in 1st or 2nd person. Role-playing is just like a story. A story is in the 3rd person.

Ex. Humbug wandered around the hall, examining things, but he decided to sit down because his legs were tired. In amid all the sitting and chatting around, food suddenly appeared and Humbug quickly delved in and ate ferociously.

6. Usage of Same Words (She/He)
Using the same words over and over again makes the reader bored. Try and use different words to make it sound more interesting. More ways of describing something is a must for all.

7. Grammar

a. Capitals : Use capitals at the beginning of sentences, places, names and on anything else that needs a capital at the beginning.

b. Punctuations :
[blockquote]1. Speech/Quotation Marks : Always use “ ” OR ‘ ’ when your character talks.

2. Capitals : Don’t use capitals for every single word.

Ex. I HATE YOU. YOU MAKE ME FEEL SICK.

Use italics to emphasise that you are yelling, shouting, screaming ect and put an exclamation mark afterwards. You don’t need to do the example above to show what you mean. By using italics and exclamation marks, people will understand the state your character is going through anyway.

Ex. I hate you. You make me feel sick!

3. Exclamation Marks : If your character is yelling, shouting, screaming ect. just put an exclamation mark at the end of the sentence like the example above. Don't use excessive amounts of exclamation marks, one is sufficient enough.

4. Commas and breaks : Do not have a sentence that has no grammar in it at all. It is really annoying to see when people can’t understand what you are saying. Show some consideration!

5. Words - What do they mean?

PM - Private Message. You can PM different people without other people reading it as well.
OOC - Out Of Character.
IC - In Character.
(( )) - Double Parentheses. These are also used to show that you are speaking out of character. However, you don’t necessarily need to use them. You can decide which one to use, either OOC or (( )).

Thanks for reading!
