Jacqueline allowed the stran access into her mind. She could feel Lex's heart beat beneath her fingers, it was going faster than she expected. Then the pain hit.

"Ahh..." she groaned.

Jacqueline tensed up. The pain was almost indescribable, it felt as though her heart was being torn from her chest. That was the only logical way to describe it. Her whole frame shook as she bore the brunt of the pain that Lex was feeling. She wanted it to stop. Jacqueline broke connection and slumped backwards gasping.

How can you bear that pain? she asked Lex through her mind as she regathered her breath. Tears of pain soon turned to tears of sympathy. Jacqueline buried her face into his chest.

"God Lex, what am I doing to you?" she said, tears running down her face, "am I really the cause of pain?"

Lex felt an overwhelming sense of relief as Jacqueline took the pains of love from him. Although... for some reason he felt like a part of him just went missing and, despite the agony, he really wanted it back.

When Jacq cut the thread it felt like a ton of bricks had collapsed back on him but he sighed, happy once more.

He steadied her and went to picked her light body up, attempting to place her once more in his lap.

'Shhh...' he chided, 'It's alright.' he whispered as her ran his elegant lips up her smooth neck to her ear.

'It's all worth it, my Love, it's all worth it.'

He suddenly felt pangs of guilt, maybe he shouldn't have showed her.

'My heart yearning for yours... that's all it is. This pain...' he began, 'this pain is nothing compared to the pleasure I get when being with you. Understand that.'

He ran his hands up the sides of her body to her head and gently tilted it back so he could look into her eyes. His bright green ones shone with such happiness it must have been almost blinding.

'I am not sad to carry this burden, it is my constant reminder of our love.' he whispered and carefully took her soft lips in his.

Jacqueline forced herself to regain control of her emotions. She quickly brushed away the tears that had fallen, refusing any more to do the same. She allowed Lex to pull her onto his lap, yearning for his warm touch.

"But I don't want our love to be represented by pain. I've already had too much of that in my life," she replied softly.

Jacqueline sighed softly into Lex's lips as he kissed her. She placed her arms around his neck, enjoying the feel of the contact between their lips. She pulled away and laid her head on his shoulder.

"I have experienced too much pain in my life. I do not want the one I love to experience anything like that."

She brought her head back up and kissed Lex again, slowly and sensually.

Jacqueline left the elf wanting, again, as she pulled away.

'It won't be, this pain is love. There's nothing we could do to stop it.' he sighed, was this true?

He laughed.

'Maybe I have indigestion or heart burn!' he chuckled, trying to break the ominous gloom that settled over them.

'You forget,' he murmered, 'I have experienced pain too. More pain than I allow you to see. I can handle this, it's nothing to me.'

Lex was once more surprised out how well she could kiss, he may have never been in love before, but that didn't mean he hadn't kissed women before - his good looks seemed to make him an easy target for whores and desperate women.

He smiled mentally.

Runing the tip of his tongue along her teeth, the elf begged for entrance and pushed in more roughly, biting her lip.

Please?

Jacqueline had to agree with what Lex was saying. They had both experienced pain beyond the knowledge of most within their lives.

Jacqueline let her lips part, allowing Lex the access he seemed to be craving.

She moaned softly when he bit her lip.

Eager, she commented.

Her moan sent him crazy.

Yep he replied, exploring curiously and counting her teeth.

He broke off when he was satisfied, smiling broadly at his work. Surely that left her breathless!

Leaning his head agaist the tree he realised it had been a very long time since he'd danced. Ironically enough he enjoyed, he could sing pretty well too - although only Winter knew that.

Lex gently slithered out from underneath Jacqueline and bowed.

'May I interest you in a dance, fair lady?' he asked as he proffered his hand.

The elf began to sing, it was a slow, old love song he had learnt when he was living with his kin. His voice was rich and floaty, rising and falling in graceful swells.

Jacqueline had indeed been breathless, not that vampires needed to breathe. Funny how being with Lex made her forget little things like that. She smiled and took Lex's hand. She stood up and curtsied.

"God, I haven't danced in centuries," she mumbled.

Jacqueline was awestruck when Lex started singing. He'd never told her that he could sing. And he could do it rather well.

How beautiful... she thought.

Lex stepped forward and took Jacqueline in his arms, linking his hands together in the small of her back.

I surprised you... didn't I? he asked, noticing the awestruck look on his vampire's face.

It almost hurt him, that people didn't expect such things from him. He was an elf, no matter how dark or 'evil' he was.

He tried to swing Jacquey around in a circle and went to pull her back in close. He moved lightly on his feet despite his height, his movements were sure and graceful and he didn't falter despite the fact he was trying to sing at the same time.

Enjoying yourself? he asked, Do you know what the song I am singing is called?

Yes, Jacqueline admitted sheepishly, you did. I just...didn't see you as the singing type.

Jacqueline decided it would probably be best to let Lex lead, seeing as he seemed to know what he was doing. The last thing she wanted to do was make a fool of herself in front of him. So she let him lead. She smiled.

Surprisingly enough, I am. But like I said, I haven't danced in centuries, she replied.

She twirled around and kept dancing. Jacqueline shook her head.

No, but I would like to know.

Don't worry... he said with a hint of sadness in his voice, I didn't expect you to.

He paused in song and brushed his lips lightly against hers then resumed and picked her up, spinning her gently above his head and dragging her along his bare chest and body until her feet touched the soft grass again.

He rested his face in the crook of Jacquey's shoulder and neck, his voice muffled as he gently walked around in circles, holding her as close as possible to him.

Tell me you love me... he whispered into her mind, and I will sommon the glowing night flyers to dance with us.
