WOOOOOOOOT!!!! THE FIRST TOPIC IN HERE!! And I was the one to suggest a writing forum like this too!! ^^
Okay, I'm really excited to share my story with everyone on here! Since I've also heard that a lot of people on here are also writing their own stories, we could critique and comment on them in here!! So, for the first time, I'm going to introduce my story!! Here is the prologue of my first book!! WOOOOOT!!
Prologue
Lightening flashed overhead, thunder rumbled. It was raining, which was unusual for the small southern city in California. It rarely got any rain at all, even a thunderstorm.
A young girl around the age of eleven was running through the rain, her brown hair wet and sleek with rain, giving it a slight auburn tint to it, and her clothes soaked to the skin. A tree root tripped her up and she fell to the ground, a bright red stone rolled out of her hands, and coming to a stop a foot away from her. It shone brightly for a moment and went dull.
Sobbing, the girl pushed herself up, her clothes now splattered with mud. Why? Why wouldn’t they understand? All she was trying to do was trying to protect her city, help it. But they continued to make fun of her or call her weird because of her newfound ability. They think she’s a troublemaker because she kept causing destruction because her powers were going out of control every time she used them. She couldn’t help it. She was still learning to use them…..
It had all started when her country was attacked two years ago, killing over three thousand people in one day. Ever since then, she had been wishing to save her world from disasters like these that were mostly caused by pure evil. Just a few months ago, an odd red stone found its way into her hands, granting her wish and giving her abnormal magical powers to aid her.
But she couldn’t control them. Every time something bad happened or a situation threatening a life, she would try to save the day by helping. But every time her powers would just cause more destruction.
She picked up the red stone, staring into it as tears flowed down her face.
I’m going to change it back. I’ll wish that this never happened, that I never became a World Hero..... Just as she was about to make the wish, someone suddenly yanked the stone out of her hands. She opened her eyes and looked up in surprise. A blonde-haired girl her age was kneeling in front of her, staring at her with concern.
“Kelly….” The girl whimpered, staring back at her closest friend.
“Don’t do it, Amy,” she replied softly, “I know what you’re thinking. Don’t go back to the way you were.”
“B-But I have to….I can’t control them….I just cause more disaster with them….”
“Listen to me, Amy. Just because you control your powers yet, doesn’t mean to give up. What you’re doing is the impossible. You’re living out your dream, Amy!” Amy stared at her. “You might not know it, but you are the first one to actually want to stand up against what’s wrong, to stand up against evil. Maybe the world or this city will be threatened, but if you’re not there to save it, then the world is done for. This city might need you soon, the world will need you….” She paused for a moment, staring hard before adding in a whisper. “I need you….because you’re my only friend…..” Amy instantly stopped crying, her brown eyes looking straight into Kelly’s bright blue eyes.
“Don’t give up now. This is your dream, isn’t it?”
Amy sniffled, nodding slightly. Kelly gave a small smile. “You just need some practice with controlling your powers. I can help you with that…..”
